Our Curriculum

Sunflower Children’s Centre

We follow the Early Years Statutory Framework (EYFS) and deliver a play based curriculum. We believe this is the best way for the children to learn and make sense of the world around them. All children develop at their own pace and we support this by ensuring they build positive relationships with their peers and staff as well as understanding what their schemas are and what interests and engages them the most. To see a child gain confidence, independence and a love of learning that helps them in their next steps means we have done our job well.

We also welcome extra activities delivered by trusted local companies and visitors. We ensure they all hold a valid DBS. Children are welcome to join these classes even if they are not in nursery on that day. Some examples are:

Dinky Stepz *

Local dance school legend Kirsty holds her Dinky Steps class every Tuesday morning Suitable for children aged 2 and over.

Phonics Bear*

Award winning Phonics Bear is a great way of introducing letters and sounds to Pre School children helping them gain confidence in time for school. Classes run on a Wednesday morning.

All Star Sports*

Delivering a variety of sports such as basketball, football and gymnastics on a Monday morning. A great way to development, fine and gross motor skills while gaining confidence and keeping healthy.

*All the above classes come at an additional cost.

Professional visitors

We love to welcome professional visitors such as Fire Fighters, Doctors and soldiers who have been on Royal Duty (Coronation Day) .
